It’s Springtime in Virginia and we are enjoying every minute! The daffodils have appeared all over the place, the pond peepers are “doing their thing” each afternoon, and the sounds of their peeping fill the entire property. The gorgeous trees that abound here are starting to bloom, and the temperatures have been perfect for hiking and outdoor activities. We are starting to count down the weeks until we can open up our saltwater pool, which is always a very happy day for us!
There are signs of new life in our little Village of Lovingston, as well. A new restaurant is coming to town: “Eddie’s”, right next door to the Lovingston post office and across from our bank. That will increase our count to SEVEN restaurants right here in our quaint Village. So our guests don’t need to travel far to get a memorable and excellent meal!
A new brewery is replacing Wild Wolf over on 151 in Nellysford: Three Notch’d is opening this summer with a brewery, restaurant, and distillery! We are excited for that addition to the Nelson 151 Brew Trail; their additional location in Charlottesville is well known for its outstanding brews and food.
The Lovingston Artists Guild has created a new historic “walking trail” to showcase the homes and businesses in downtown Lovingston. This group is also working on our own LOVE sign for photo opportunties and social media posts. The still new “HeART of Nelson” venue (across from Mountain Mama’s) is bursting with art and creations from local artists and is well worth the stop.
Another new brewery, Outback Brewery, is just over a mile south from us. With their Australian themed brews, complimentary popcorn and peanuts, and newly added food truck, this is another great place to check out during your stay at the Orchard House Bed and Breakfast!
Back here on the property, Mike and Deb have started our spring-time to do list with renewed energy. Outdoor projects like touch up painting, landscaping, vineyard prep, new mulch and more have consumed most of our spring days. We’ve also managed to work in a hike or two each week, with the current favorites being the Piney River Railroad Trail, or the Fortune’s Cove Reserve. Beautiful, peaceful, and a great way to fit some exercise into our routines.
We’ve also had fun creating some new, challenging, and creative breakfast recipes. We are so blessed with an abundance of repeat guests, so we want to keep everybody enthusiastic with offering not only the “favorites”, but some new, soon-to-be favorite breakfasts!
