We have been fortunate to host and partcipate in such well-deserved getaways here at the Orchard House Bed & Breakfast. It’s so much fun to help coordinate and observe the excitement of old and new friends reuniting to experience the best that Nelson County has to offer.
A favorite weekend itinerary looks much like this: Friday night check-in, followed by a group dinner at one of several awesome local venues. Feeling fancy? We’ll send you off to Basic Necessities in nearby Nellysford for elegant food/wine/local breads and cheeses. Hoping to stay close by? We’ll recommend Vito’s just two minutes up the road for homemade pastas, pizzas, salads, nightly specials, and very generous wine pours. Looking for some local flavors and unparalleled experiences? Surely we will tell you Wood Ridge Farm Brewery is the place to be…with it’s farm-to-table food truck, breathtaking views, “Cheers”-type atmosphere (remember that show?) and the owner greeting you after farming all day. Live music and fire pits with s’mores kits sounding good? We will direct you to the amazing experience at Devil’s Backbone Brewery. Does it just sound best to stay tucked in and get caught up with each other until bedtime? If you’ve booked our 3-bedroom Farmhouse, you and your friends can shop at the local Food Lion (less than one mile up the road), cook something simple in our fully equipped Farmhouse kitchen, and relax on the front porch while listening to the pond frogs and pond fountain. Whatever sounds best to your group, we can help send you in the right direction.
Saturday morning: breakfast served in our main house dining room….how nice it feels to be pampered with a multi-course, homemade breakfast in an elegantly appointed yet oh-so-relaxed dining room. Hopefully you have booked our signature “Wine Tour” in our new cargo passenger van…a 5 hour adventure that takes you to multiple stops within our area. We mix in wineries/breweries/even a distillery, and provide a professionally packed picnic lunch from one of our favorite local restaurants. The Wine Tours are one of our guests most highly acclaimed packages. Regardless, we will share our Nelson County VIP card with your group, offering a variety of discounts and “BOGO” offers from local wineries/breweries/restaurants/distilleries and help you plan the best day ever. Everything available from history, horse-back riding, antiquing, spa treatments, wine tours, hiking…OR…deciding to do nothing other than sit on our expansive front porch and stare at the Blue Ridge Mountains. You choose, and we will help you fine-tune the details!
Saturday night: more choices for restaurants, our new fire pit beckons your group (so much fun and so effortless to turn on the gas fire pit, open wine, and gaze up at the endless stars above), and don’t forget the brand new in-ground salt water swimming pool. What a perfect way to unwind after a wonderful day in Nelson County….head back and sit pool-side with your girls…your only responsibilities include grabbing our pool towels from your rooms and deciding which pool chair is yours.
Sunday morning: another delicious breakfast awaits you, as do the mandatory front porch pix before you head back to reality.
