Clearly, the best part of our new adventure is helping wonderful people plan relaxing getaways and celebrations.  Imagine our delight when we had the opportunity to plan a “Family Staycation” with our two favorite kids.  Finally!  A chance to experience Nelson County firsthand for a few sacred days without alarms, cleaning schedules, grocery shopping lists, and laundry.

We planned our few days together like the treasure that it was.  Where would we go?  Who would we see?  What was the weather forecast?

After our kids arrived post-5 hour drive from the Pittsburgh, PA area, we dove right into the Staycation.  Burgers on the new grill (thank you for grilling, Mitchell!), property re-tour, and time around the new fire pit.  WOW.  We were already getting a feel for why our guests love it here.   Fireflies, bunnies, mountain views, pond frogs chirping in the background…so peaceful and relaxing!

The days quickly became a blur of activity but these were some of the highlights:  pooltime at the Orchard House Bed & Breakfast (we all loved the new salt water pool!), lunch at Wild Wolf Brewery, a stop at Bold Rock Cider (it’s very unassuming from the road..spectacular view!), a great experience and perfect t-shirt souvenir at Silverback Distillery, our “first-responder” timing when the car in front of us flipped over on 151, our amazing polo Sunday at King Family Winery, more pooltime, more Orchard House Bed & Breakfast front porch time, cold brews at PRN Brewery in Crozet, our Chinese food take-out order at Lovingston’s Chen’s, Dad’s homemade pizza, our final “meal” at Devil’s Backbone Brewery, and our kids’ two favorite breakfasts served the last two mornings of our Staycation.  There were so many more highlights, laughs, memories, and we can’t wait for our kids to return.

Now we understand firsthand why our guests love it here so much!  There is nothing quite like a Nelson County getaway.  Even better:  a family Staycation!
