Forty is the new fabulous and Lindsay proved that throughout her special weekend at the Orchard House Bed and Breakfast! A year and a half ago, my friend and former yoga teacher from the Pittsburgh area started planning her 40th birthday weekend celebration. She knew she wanted to celebrate with her very special girlfriends and their spouses, and she knew it should involve wine. The more Lindsay put together the requirements for her birthday bash, the more she knew she was coming to Virginia Wine Country, and hosting this important event at the Orchard House Bed and Breakfast!
Lindsay is a pretty special person, and to know her is to instantly love her. It was obvious last weekend that she knows how to be a good friend, too. Lindsay had a group of girlfriends in attendance that she has known since elementary school, a group of sorority sisters from her college days, and a group of girlfriends who share the titles of pharmaceutical sales reps. Some of these friends were meeting for the first time here, but they all instantly bonded over their shared love for Linds!
It was super easy to entertain a group of 24 people in the Nelson County community! Friday night kicked off with a group dinner at the new Lovingston mexican restaurant. El Mariachi did a great job with our large group and the margaritas were flowing! Saturday we departed for a day-long wine tour, starting with an amazing experience at nearby Virginia Distillery. From there, we headed to a VIP tasting at the beautiful DelFosse Vineyards. The owner Mike really went above and beyond with sharing his love of wine and his vineyard. Next we enjoyed a packed picnic lunch and gorgeous mountain views at Veritas Winery And to make sure that everyone got to enjoy a little taste of all that Nelson County offers, we ended our tour at WoodRidge Farm Brewery. Our group absolutely loved the laid-back vibe, the variety of beers, the food truck snacks, and of course, the amazing views. What a successful day of touring!
Lindsay was happy to return back to our property and orchestrated a fantastic poolside pizza party. The music was perfect, the afternoon storm cleared to sunny skies, and the pizza from local Vito’s tasted amazing. The memories with Lindsay continued to flow, and the group continued laughing and sharing stories well into the night.
Our firepit was the perfect spot to gather after the fantastic day. There, the group enjoyed birthday cake, Deb’s brownies, more music, more celebratory drinks, and the sights of the stars and lightening bugs.
Sunday morning, following Mike’s delicious Eggs Benedict, the group said their goodbyes with hugs and promises to keep in touch. We were so happy to be part of this wonderful celebration, and we loved knowing that Lindsay and her tribe were loving being here, too. Forty is the new Fabulous, and Lindsay takes that title to a whole new level!
