In our almost six years as bed and breakfast owners, we’ve been blessed to host many “first timers”. It’s always a pleasure to get to treat new guests to what makes a bed and breakfast experience so special, and so different, from other options. It’s always apparent when people arrive and check in with pre-conceived ideas of what a bed and breakfast is all about, and we are happy to either confirm or surprise them by the time they check out!
The aerial photo of our 14 acre property provides just some idea of what we offer here at the Orchard House Bed and Breakfast. Our main house has six rooms, all with private baths, and beautiful views. Each room is decorated differently, and offers unique amenities. Our Farmhouse (top right corner), is just a short walk or drive from the main house. It has three bedrooms, all with private baths, and more beautiful views. The Farmhouse also has a large kitchen that those guests have full access to, should they want to enjoy any meals other than breakfast, of course! We serve our multi-course, home made, locally sourced breakfasts in the main house dining room. Our guests are seated at private tables in a room filled with sunshine and windows. Our guests can also choose to have as much, or as little, interaction with other guests as they’d like. Our breakfast time is filled with music in the background, candles on the tables, fresh brewed local coffee and hot water for tea, and always lots of smiles with anticipation of a fun day ahead.
We provide rooms complete with fresh linens, extra blankets, bathrobes, toiletries, hair dryers, wine glasses, and openers. There is even the option to purchase both red and white wine produced from our own vineyard! We also provide amongst the best WiFi service in the area, as well as an automated door code to be used during our guests stay.
Speaking of vineyard (right side of picture, in the middle): we have our own one acre vineyard complete with a cozy gazebo for relaxing and rejuvenating. This is an active vineyard, and often our guests will spot Mike pruning, pulling or tucking leaves, or just making sure everything is growing as planned.
Another amenity that makes us different: our saltwater pool. It’s not common for a bed and breakfast to offer a pool for guests, and ours is very popular! What a perfect way to unwind after a day of Nelson County adventures…..we provide pool towels, as well as several seating options poolside.
Another one of our most popular b and b amenities is our gas fire pit. The stars here are amazing, and our guests love completing their day gathering around the fire pit. This area provides the perfect spot to meet other guests, swap stories about your day, and pretty much solve every world challenge. Many friendships have been made around our fire pit!
Probably one of the most outstanding differences with staying at a bed and breakfast versus other accommodations would be the personal touch. We live right on the property, in a private owners quarters, so we are here should you need us. You’ll see Deb out filling bird feeders and watering plants, or Mike completing yard work. But our number one goal is for our guests to enjoy the property and make themselves at home, so we are very concientious about who wants to interact, and who appreciates privacy.
We also take great pride in helping our guests experience the best of Nelson County. We share our Nelson County VIP Card upon checkin….this unique card provides discounts and BOGO’s from our most popular area wineries, restaurants, breweries, distilleries, and cider venues. Not only does the card help our guests save money, but it provides an easy “map” of special places to visit during their getaway. We love hearing our guests report back with their favorite hike, winery, historical spot, or restaurant.
