Shared Vision & Passion
About Your Hosts
A Desire To Help Others And Have An Incredible Experience
Almost 20 years ago, before Sarah had even met the Thatcher family, God planted a seed inside of her heart. In a season of change in her life, Sarah had spent the weekend at a Bed & Breakfast in Arizona. She had an incredible experience and felt seen and cared for through the impeccable hospitality from the host. She left with a desire to help others feel that same way. Soon after, Sarah met the Thatcher family and eventually married Caleb.
After having 4 kids in 2.5 years, Caleb and Sarah yearned for a life where they could work together as a whole family. They wanted to work where they lived and for their 4 boys to get to do it right alongside them.
In the meantime, Caleb became a skilled woodworker and craftsman and Sarah became an Interior Designer and grew in her skills and heart for hospitality.
Working Together As A Family And Shared Vision
After working together as a family at a retreat center for a couple of years, that seed that was planted almost 20 years ago, sprang up in their hearts once again.
At the same time, Patrick and Robyn (the grandparents) along with Caleb and Sarah had the desire to move toward generational living.
Driven by a shared vision and passion, their dreams collided and so the search for a Bed & Breakfast in the mountains of Virginia where the two families could live, work and serve others together began.
The Orchard House Bed and Breakfast wasn’t on the market but God led the Thatchers straight to the owner and property and in the summer of 2024, they got to begin living out their dream.
It Was Meant To Be
Patrick and Robyn bring a love of wine, great food and hospitality as well as incredible business sense. Caleb and Sarah have a heart to renovate and run the Orchard House in a way that cultivates an atmosphere of comfort, rest and togetherness for all of the guests who step on the property and to offer the best hospitality and guest experience possible.
What a joy this is to get to do together! Our hope is that you feel the deep love of God through your experience here at The Orchard House Bed and Breakfast.

This place is sooooo charming and the breakfast was to die for!
You really can’t beat it! My husband and I took our coffee and sat out on the porch every morning, overlooking the grounds as the sun was coming up through the trees and it was so calming and relaxing!! As a side note, I love to renovate our home so I chatted with Sarah (the gal who runs it now) about how she and her husband Caleb have plans to renovate each of the existing rooms – one by one – and they were already working on the first one and it was looking sooooo beautiful! It made me even more excited to book a trip to come back and see what they’ve done! If you’re coming through Lovingston or looking for a nice little getaway, look no further! We loved our stay here!!
